Well its that time of year again, Happy Valentine’s Day!!
Today the stores and restaurants will be filled with people buying to show their love. Wouldn’t it be nice if we put the same energy into showing love everyday? Just a thought.
I received my first showing of love early this morning via a Valentine’s Day text. Let’s celebrate what we know about this day. Here’s a link: http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day. To be honest, for a long time I never knew the meaning behind this day.
While its a day lovers celebrate, it is also a day when those who don’t have a lover feel left out. A celebration of love can not be exclusive because love is inclusive. Love is bigger than one day.
Whether you have someone to celebrate with or not, everyday is a day to show yourself and others love. Resist thinking no one loves me because I didn’t get flowers, candy, etc. Resist thinking someone loves you because you received flowers, candy, etc. We can not give something as powerful as love away to ONE day. We should enjoy whatever we recieve today, but if we only get it on Valentine’s Day, there’s a problem. Because love is bigger than one day.
Here are some tips on how to love/celebrate yourself:
1. Make a habit of doing things that make you happy and feel loved. Healthy habits help you to grow and place the responsibility of love in your life where it belongs, in your hands.
2. Rewarding yourself is one way. It should be an ongoing part of your life. Buy yourself flowers, candy, etc., Take yourself to dinner, movie, etc. Rewards don’t always mean you have to spend money.
Take time out to LOVE YOU. No one can show you better how to love you. Never wait on anyone to show you are loved and appreciated. Be responsible for your own happiness. It keeps the power for your feeling loved where it belongs, with you.
Whatever you do love yourself and love will come back to you, not just on Valentine’s day but everyday of you life.
Remember, love is bigger than one day!
